19 Attorneys General Rebuke Merrick Garland For Doing Nothing To Stop Domestic Abortion Terrorism

On Tuesday, Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost urged U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland to halt increasing pro-abortion terrorism against pro-life organizations and churches in recent weeks.

In a letter, Yost and the other attorneys general said pro-life organizations had been vandalized, bombed, or threatened almost every day since May when a leaked draft ruling showed the U.S. Supreme Court overthrown Roe v. Wade.

“In America, we resolve our differences with debates and ballots, not bricks and Molotov cocktails,” Yost told Garland.

The attorneys general reminded Biden’s chief executive that “justice cannot engage a partisan affiliation” and that he must enforce the law.

“Americans need not fear for their lives because they stand up for what they believe in,” they said in the letter. “The First Amendment grants the right to speak freely, regardless of the subject, and without fear that your home, workplace or, worse, your life will be threatened.”

They also criticized Garland for doing nothing to stop picket actions outside the homes of U.S. Supreme Court justices, despite a federal law prohibiting such acts.

A pro-abortion group published the judges’ addresses online after the leak, and abortion activists regularly protested outside their homes. Some even posted ominous social media posts about the judges’ school-age children.

Then, earlier this month, an alleged hitman with a gun was arrested outside Judge Brett Kavanaugh’s home after the man said he planned to kill the judge, police said. The leaked draft showed Kavanaugh as one of the judges agreeing to overthrow Roe in the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health case.

Yost and the other attorneys general told Garland he must act to stop this growing terrorism.

“Inaction is unacceptable in our nation of laws, and it violates your oath of office,” they continued. “Yet in recent weeks, you have continued to allow illegal actions, ostensibly because they (in some minds) advance the pro-abortion cause.”

They asked Garland to let the U.S. Department of Justice begin its investigation with Jane’s Revenge. This radical anarchist group has taken credit for vandalizing and bombing pro-life organizations in Colorado, Michigan, Oregon, Texas, Washington, and Wisconsin. They pointed to reports from the group urging abortion activists to “paint, burn, cut (and) jam” pro-life organizations.

“The FBI has ample resources to track down the members of the organization and track down those who commit these acts of violence, which are classified as terrorism under federal law,” the attorney general said.

They also offered to help Garland and his department with the investigations and prosecutions and said political violence should be punished.

The attorneys general of Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and West Virginia also signed the letter.

While Garland and the Biden administration have condemned the violence, they have not condemned protests outside the judges’ homes. Federal law prohibits protests outside the homes of judges, witnesses, jurors, and court officials; such actions are considered harassment and interference with the justice system.

The FBI announced an investigation into pro-abortion violence last week.

Dozens of churches, pro-life organizations, and individuals have been the target of arson, vandalism, assault, threats, and harassment since the leak, and U.S. Marshals have provided additional security to judges.

According to Axios, a Department of Homeland Security report in May warned that radical abortion activists are threatening to set fire to or storm the Supreme Court building and kill judges and their clerks if the court overthrows Roe. The report indicates that these pro-abortion extremists also plan to attack churches and other places of worship.

Since Roe in 1973, more than 63 million unborn babies and hundreds of mothers have died in supposedly “safe, legal” abortions.

The Supreme Court is expected to issue its final ruling in the Dobbs case later this month.
