Another pro-life maternity center that helps mothers in need was targeted by vandals in Michigan on Sunday, with windows and doors smashed and graffiti sprayed on the walls.
The crime at the Lennon Pregnancy Center in Dearborn Heights, Michigan, is the latest in dozens of attacks on pro-life organizations since May when a leaked draft ruling showed the U.S. Supreme Court overthrown Roe v. Wade.
Detroit News 4 reports that vandals smashed 11 windows and three glass doors in the maternity center and sprayed pro-abortion graffiti on the walls.
Gary Hillebrand, chairman of the board of directors of Lennon Pregnancy Center, said the crime hurts families in need the most. Last month, he said they helped 97 moms, dads, and babies by providing free diapers and formula, ultrasounds and pregnancy tests, parenting and financial classes, and more. Hillebrand told LifeNews that they are open and will continue to serve families despite the vandalism. The graffiti has been wiped off the walls, and the windows and doors boarded up.
“I think it all has to do with Roe v. Wade coming off the Supreme Court,” he told the news channel. “Many people are angry about that and react strangely to people like us trying to help the pregnant ladies and need help.”
Hillebrand said nearly every window in their building was broken, and their security cameras didn’t catch the vandals in the act. According to the maternity center, a local print shop in the same building was also hit by vandalism.
Among the pro-abortion graffiti sprayed on the walls was, “If abortions aren’t safe, neither are you,” Hillebrand said. This threat has been common in maternity center vandalism in recent weeks.
The local police are investigating, the news channel reports.
Since May, five pro-life offices have been targeted by arson, and dozens of pro-life organizations and churches have been vandalized. Police said an alleged murderer with a gun was arrested outside the home of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh earlier this month after the man said he planned to kill the judge.
The Supreme Court is expected to decide on the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health abortion case in Mississippi this summer, possibly later this month.
According to Axios, a recent Department of Homeland Security report warned that radical abortion activists could burn down or storm the Supreme Court building and kill judges and their clerks if the court overthrows Roe. The report indicates that these pro-abortion extremists also plan to attack churches and other places of worship.
