Catholic Bishop Tells Joe Biden You Can’t Be Catholic And Pro-Abortion

The Catholic Bishop of Arlington, Michael Burbidge, recently urged Joe Biden to repent of his pro-abortion position and stop supporting the killing of unborn babies in abortions.

Aleteia reports that in late May, the Bishop of Arlington, Virginia, discussed President and Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, who both claim to be devout Catholics while supporting abortion, on his “Walk Humble” podcast in late May.

“I find it deeply disturbing that President Biden continues to contradict the most basic tenets of the faith he professes,” Burbidge said, adding that the president “causes a major scandal when he publicly declares both his faith and his pro-abortion stance. I pray that he will change his stance and repent of the scandal and damage being done.”

He urged the Catholic politician to go to church and be open to allowing God to speak to him.

“My prayer recently has been that, no matter how busy he is, no matter how demanding his job is, that the president and other elected officials would find time… to just go to church, just sit in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament.” sit still, be still, and let the voice of the Lord speak to you,” Burbidge continued.

If Biden listens, he will be reminded that all children of God deserve to be protected and loved, including children in the womb, the bishop said.

“We know what that voice will say to the president, to all of us: Protect my children, love me, respect each other, uphold the gospel of life,” Burbidge said. And so, as we always say to Catholics, the churches of our doors are open to you to be in the presence of the Lord, The only one who can change hearts, the only one in the Sacrament of Penance who is willing is to forgive our sins, however great they may be, and let us begin again.”

During the podcast, according to the report, Burbidge supported San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone’s decision to deny Pelosi communion until she repents and pledged to do the same in his diocese. Pelosi claims to be Catholic but consistently defies Church teachings on the sanctity of human life.

Pelosi and Biden support a radical pro-abortion bill that would legalize abortions for virtually any reason up to birth nationwide, even if Roe v. Wade is quashed, forcing Catholic hospitals and pro-life medical workers to participate in killing unborn babies and forcing taxpayers to pay for elective abortions.

Last fall, Cordileone said the legislation amounts to “child sacrifice” and rebuked Catholic politicians who support it. He said the bill is what you would expect from a devout Satanist, not a devout Catholic.

But Pelosi laughed at the archbishop’s statement at a September press conference, saying she and Cordileone “do not agree on who should decide on this.”

According to Aleteia, at least 20 bishops have made statements supporting Cordileone’s decision on Pelosi, including Archbishop Joseph Naumann, a former chairman of the Committee of the American Conference of Catholic Bishops on Pro-Life Activities.

Many US bishops and priests have expressed concern that pro-abortion Catholic politicians such as Pelosi and Biden are “causing scandal” for the Catholic Church by encouraging evil. They have said the Church must do something toclarifyr that Catholics cannot support the killing of unborn babies through abortion and must repent before taking Communion.
